The role of the Math for America (MƒA) Utah mentor is to teach, inspire and help prepare MƒA Utah fellows for the real world challenges and experiences of a secondary math teacher. The mentor is extremely important in the transition from content and theory to actual teaching and practice.
Mentor teachers will be compensated up to $5,000 per year, depending upon the level of involvement. We anticipate that the relationship between the fellow and mentor will continue and will be supplemented by the professional development opportunities with MƒA Utah.
MƒA Utah will also pay any tuition for mentors wishing to complete a masters program related to mathematics teaching and/or fees related to the National Board Certification.
