Thumb emina alibegovic

Emina comes from Bosnia, but she fell in love with Utah while in graduate school there. After finishing her degree under supervision of Prof. Bestvina, she moved to Ann Arbor as a T.H. Hildebrandt Research Assistant Professor. Her research was in Geometric Group Theory, but she was increasingly interested and involved with teacher education. Her first work involving mathematics teaching was through ThEMaT where she participated in the production of classroom stories as well as in geometry study groups with teachers. After her postdoc, she returned to the Mathematics Department at the University of Utah where she works with pre-service and in-service mathematics teachers through the their coursework as well as professional development opportunities. Emina has been involved with MƒA Utah since its inception. She has been involved in nearly all aspects of the program: fellow and mentor recruitment, advising fellows, organizing cohort meetings, organizing workshops and teaching courses.
